Samsung 22” and 46” Transparent LCDs Now in Mass Production

Samsung is currently offering a 22” (LTI220MT02. LTM220MT01) and 46” (LTI460AP01) open frame transparent LCD, utilizing both HDMI and USB interfaces, and a 1680x1050 resolution. Samsung unveiled plans to begin mass production of their transparent LCDs March 31, 2011 and they’re offering the product in the form of an open frame LCD.

The open frame panels uses a DC adapter for power and an HDMI connector for the motherboard, which enables integrators and display manufacturers to use build in the LCD.

What stands out about the transparent display are a few key factors, beyond the fact that you can see right through the screen like a piece of glass, the display takes advantage of ambient light and boast up to 90% less energy consumption than a traditional LCD display.  

Samsung has noted that this technology is ideal for corporations, schools and advertisers looking to display information more effectively. The simplicity of integrating this technology will make it very appealing for companies looking to utilize the transparent displays. Samples are now available and mass production of the transparent LCDs will begin between May and September.
