CES 2011: Vizio
Vizio showcased its 21:9 CINEMAWIDE HDTVs packing a 2560x1080 pixel format in two sizes: 50 and 58 inches. The 21:9 aspect ratio is much wider than 16:9 and targeted at movie watchers that want an experience closer to watching film (think theaters) than HDTV. Philips first came out with 21:9 LCD TVs (see: Philips Cinema 21:9)
Another notable product introduction was the Vizio Tablet running Google's Android OS. The Vizio Tablet is about as thick as an iPad, but unfortunately mimics the glossy bezel as well. The Vizio Tablet sports an 8-inch LCD with a 1024x768 pixel format leading to a denser resolution than the 9.7-inch 1024x768 on the iPad. The LCD is not of the IPS (In-Plane Switching) variety so viewing angles aren't fantastic, but still quite usable.
