US has significant rare earth deposits
techeye.net- As China tightens its hold on the market for rare earths, the US has been on the hunt for other sources. And just look what it's found - 13 million metric tonnes of the stuff, hidden down the back of the sofa. While most rare earths aren't actually that rare, mining is almost exclusively concentrated in China, which has warned that it plans to limit exports. Four-channel LED IC for backlit LCD televisions
electronicstalk.com- Austriamicrosystems has launched the AS3696, a four-channel LED driver IC that is designed for edge lighting in LCD televisions. It includes a special control mechanism for 3D effects and extends the company's portfolio of LED backlight unit (BLU) drivers for the next generation of LCD TVs.
